India's Position
India’s Position in the Global Agri Export Market
India has emerged as a major player in the global agricultural export market. Ranked among the top exporters of cereals, spices, and processed foods, India’s vast agro-climatic diversity and strong production base provide a competitive advantage.
Countries across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East rely on Indian agricultural goods to meet their food demand. As of 2025, India exports to over 100 countries, with key partners including the UAE, Bangladesh, USA, and Malaysia.
The government’s Agriculture Export Policy (AEP) and improved trade agreements have enhanced market access and encouraged product diversification. Infrastructure developments, such as Mega Food Parks and cold storage chains, have further boosted export capacity.
India also benefits from a growing demand for organic, sustainable, and clean-label foods—areas where Indian farmers are gaining certification and credibility. Digital traceability and compliance with international standards are helping Indian exporters win buyer trust in developed markets.
However, challenges like freight cost volatility, competition from neighboring countries, and sanitary restrictions must be strategically addressed.
With continued investment in quality, marketing, and logistics, India is poised to strengthen its role as a reliable agri-export hub.
