India’s Agri-Export Policy: A Boost for Global Trade
India’s Agricultural Export Policy (AEP), launched in 2018, is a game-changer in enhancing the country’s presence in global markets. The policy aims to double agricultural exports and integrate Indian farmers with global supply chains. It focuses on increasing value-added exports, promoting agri-clusters, and improving infrastructure.

The government has identified 46 unique products across districts under the “One District One Product” scheme. These are promoted through better branding, certification, and market linkage. The policy also provides incentives, reduces logistics costs, and strengthens the cold chain network.

This structured approach is helping India diversify its export basket beyond traditional commodities. Stakeholders including FPOs, startups, and exporters benefit from targeted assistance. Countries importing Indian agro-products now receive better-quality, traceable, and certified produce.

With this policy, India is not just exporting food—it's exporting standards. Businesses in the agri-export domain can thrive by aligning with AEP priorities like traceability, sustainability, and packaging upgrades.
